Description
In carrying out his responsibilities the Master’s routine functions are, but not limited to:-

a) carry out weekly inspections of all stores and accommodation area with the Chief Officer and
Chief Engineer, record results in the deck log and take corrective actions where necessary,

b) carry out effectively & report all monthly emergency drills as required by the company

- prepare and dispatch all reports as required,
- ensure that risk and hazard assessments are being carried out and recorded as required by
the company's safety management requirement
- implement the necessary control measures to eliminate or reduce any safety hazards/
outcomes and environment aspects/impacts.
- participate and take the lead in tool box meetings, especially in anchor handling and
towing operations,
- handle any communication from external parties and authorities for matters relating to
safety and environment. Liaise with the DPA/MR if necessary on such matters.
- ensure monitoring and measurement of key parameters and performance indicators to ensure
compliance with legal and other requirements, and effective implementation of the safety
and environment management system.
- chair monthly Safety and Environmental Management System review meeting and report its
findings to the shore based management
- reporting defects and any non conformances to the shore based management
- appraising and co-coordinating on-board training as required by the company
- be responsible for continuously evaluating safety of any ongoing operation which includes
when operating the vessel within 500 meters of an offshore installation
- mentor and train the Chief Officer, Trainee Chief Officer and Trainee Master (if on
board) for the role of their eventual promotion to the next higher rank.

c) Responsibility for the safe and efficient navigation of the ship

d) Responsible for the custody of all necessary certificates for the trading of the vessel and
other customary port documents and updates all their due dates for surveys, renewals or
services.

e) Satisfy himself that the ship is loaded with sufficient stability, its cargo properly secured,
taking into consideration the prevailing and forecast weather conditions prior to setting the
vessel out to sea.
Additional Requirements
Preferably Malaysian
Holding NCV and UV will be considered
Able to converse and report in acceptable English
Good and open attitude
Adaptable to changes
